Call it a Surface clone if you must, but Lenovo’s Miix 520 is more like a formidable competitor that quickly rises above mere imitation. Unveiled at IFA 2017, the detachable 2-1 laptop is now packing an 8th generation Intel quad-core processor under the hood to bring the best of brains and braun. That’s joined by an awesome new world view camera that can capture 3D images like never before. Similarly, a MagicWindow app allows you to inject 3D images into regular pictures.
Versatility is still the name of the game when it comes to Lenovo’s latest. Opt for a laptop experience on the Miix 520 or detach the keyboard to make it a sturdy tablet. Detachment not only adds a tier of mobility, but sheds a third of the weight in the process. An adjoining pen and new kickstand make the functional device all the more so. And let’s give a nice shout out to Cortana…now from up to 4 metres away thanks to new innovations in voice recognition technology.
Ultimately, however, it’s all about the 3D world view camera and new quad-core processor. The latter offers a 40% increase in performance and hammers one more nail into the average PC’s coffin. Meanwhile, fingerprint authentication has never been as optimal as it is here. Pair all that with the device’s flexible design and you may never have to work a desktop again.
