With so many companies offering essentially the same design for earbuds, you have to find a way to differentiate yourself in order to stand out. For JBL’s new Tune 220 truly wireless earbuds, part of the effort to be different comes in offering the buds in a whole range of trendy colours, from blue or green to pink or silver, and the standard black and white.
If there’s a bone to pick with the JBL Tune 220 earbuds, it’s the short battery life. Priced at USD$99.95 or AUD$179.95, you would expect the earbuds to have a longer battery life than just three hours. Granted, you get an additional 16 hours with the case, but a bit more playback time would be nice. That being said, the JBL Tune 220 earbuds still have plenty to offer. The stems are touch-sensitive, allowing you to control your music by playing, pausing, skipping tracks, accepting calls, and even summoning your voice assistant. The buds use Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.
Where people will be most pleased with the new buds will be with the sound. JBL claims that the Tune 220s have “standout audio,” and with 12.5mm drivers to support JBL’s Pure Bass sound, they’re most likely right. And given JBL’s penchant for testing sound quality above and beyond what anyone else is doing, you can safely take their word as bond. The earbuds also have a new, comfortable ergonomic design that focuses on all-day wear. The earbuds are compatible with both iPhone and Android devices. The JBL Tune 220 earbuds are available now, with more colours coming online soon. Positive reviews are already rolling in, and it’s safe to say that JBL is offering some pretty good competition for other earbuds on the market.
