Most turntables on the market today require that you connect them to a preamp and external set of speakers to listen to the high-quality audio. If the turntable does have a built-in speaker, then it probably isn’t high-quality.
The Seed Turntable, available via a Kickstarter campaign, is a new all-in-one turntable system that produces high-quality audio without the need for external speakers. Seed is the world’s first turntable system that is capable of 70W high output and also produces excellent sound.
This multifunction turntable has been in the planning and development stage for the last two years. Taiwanese company HYM has been working with a team of experienced audio technicians and designers to make this turntable a reality.
Seed is equipped with an Audio Technica AT3600 Hi-Fi phono cartridge. The meticulously calibrate tonearm produces a true-to-original sound. Two 1-inch silk tweeters and two 4-inch subwoofer drivers deliver high-fidelity sound.
The amp and speakers are located beneath the turntable. HYM’s proprietary Tri-Point suspension system hold the tonearm and platter steady, which helps reduce vibrations and distortions. This helps ensure that the audio does not have the pops and cracks that are associated with traditional vinyl.
Other features include wireless streaming capability, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.5mm auxiliary input. There is also an RCA line-out and a digital SPDIF output. These features allow you to connect Seed with almost any major streaming service, such as Spotify and Pandora.
The Seed Turntable is estimated to be delivered in August. Combining power, good design and versatility, this compact turntable is worth a look.
