Vivo may not be a well-known brand, but the Vivo Nex will be changing that soon. Vivo Nex is a phone poised to take on industry giants Apple and Android. What’s most interesting about the Nex is Vivo’s decision to abandon the ubiquitous notch design and put the selfie camera in a pop up position on the top of the camera. Removing the notch for the front facing camera increases the screen-to-body ratio to 91.24 percent. The 8MP camera of the Nex hides in the body of the phone until only pops up when you’re ready for a selfie. On the back you’ll find the two cameras—the 12-megapixel and a secondary 5-megapixel for depth.
Nex also tackled the under-screen fingerprint scanner—and did so successfully. The implementation of this advance is way beyond what anyone else has been able to achieve. Yet another interesting aspect is the moving of the earpiece from its customary spot on the top of the device. Nex opted instead to position it below the display and use a technology similar to bone-conduction so that you can hear your calls, which will be nice in windy or noisy environments.
The 6.6 inch FHD+ AMOLED screen weighs 199 grams, so it feels solid in your hand. The rear of the phone is curved for comfort. There’s a headphone jack on the top, and plenty of storage with up to 256GB and 6 to 8 GB of RAM.
