Motorola’s New Edge Plus Might Make You Switch Providers

Motorola’s new Edge Plus is set to be released on May 14, and it comes dressed to the nines–$999.99 that is. The thousand-dollar phone connects to Verizon’s 5G network and is packed with some of the best hardware on the market today.

For starters, the new smartphone has a large, 6.7-inch FHD 1080p OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen has narrow bezels and a curved-edge, and no notch on the front. Flip the phone around and you’ll see the 108-megapixel camera. The Edge Plus also comes with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera that boasts a 117-degree field of view, an 8-megapixel 3X zoomed camera, and a 25-megapixel selfie camera. A 5,000mAh battery provides plenty of juice while 12GB of LPDDR5 memory acts for RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage takes care of the rest. It’s all powered by a Snapdragon 865 mobile processor from Qualcomm. What might be of the most interest though, is that the Edge Plus comes with a headphone jack. When most other phones are moving to strictly wireless headphones, it’s good to see that one phone offer a traditional approach. In fact, the Edge Plus will be the only smartphone in 2020 to offer a headphone jack.

While the $999.99 price tag is right in line with other high-end smartphones (such as Samsung’s $1,200 Galaxy S20 Plus and $900 OnePlus 8 Pro, or the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s $1,100 price), you can save a bit on your purchase with a couple of programs offered to Verizon customers. You can trade-in your device and get up to $250 off, or add a new line with an unlimited data plan and get $550 off. If you’re not currently a Verizon customer, you can switch and get an additional $150 off. That could mean up to $700 off the phone, if you work it right. Considering the Motorola Edge Plus has everything you need on smartphone, it might be a good move to do so.
