Sitting perfectly in the mid-tier range, the A42 5G doesn’t have quite the same tricked-out specs we’re used to seeing from Samsung, but that isn’t to say this release is small.

“We’re excited to bring to market our latest 5G smartphone in the A Series line-up. The Galaxy A42 5G delivers premium Samsung features and innovation, is powered for the latest super-fast 5G networks, and is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver next-generation connectivity to more Australians,” Garry McGregor, vice president – IT & Mobile, Samsung Electronics Australia said.

Features & Design

Where the new Galaxy A42 5G shines is in the entertainment features. Backed by 5G connectivity, the new affordable smartphone lets you stream and game on the go, with less lag and increase performance.  Additionally, the Galaxy A42 5G cops a 6.6-inch AMOLED Infinity-U Display for crisp picture and comes with a fast charging 5,000mAh battery.

On the rear of the phone, you’ll find a layered pattern that Samsung describes as a “modern, high-quality” finish. The sleek design also encompasses rounded edges, making it more ergonomically sound, and comes in three colours: Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White and Prism Dot Grey.

Camera

As with all new smartphones, the camera plays a major role with the A42 5G. In this edition, we see Samsung roll out a multi role Quad Camera that the tech giant claims will make capturing or recording those memorable moments easier than ever. There is a 48MP Main Camera, along with  8MP Ultra Wide Camera, a 5MP Macro Camera and 5MP Depth Camera capture intricate details of close-up objects and can create a background blur effect around the subject.

For those who don’t mind getting in front of the shot, there is a 20MP Selfie Camera on the front for next-level selfie shots and crystal
clear video calls. The new smartphone also comes with 128GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, along with MicroSD support up to 1TB3.

The new Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is available now in Australia and is priced at AUD$599.
