This year marks the 45th anniversary of Mark Levinson Audio Systems. Most true audiophiles know the name Mark Levinson. The company has made some of the best amplifiers in the world. To celebrate their anniversary, the audio brand recently released the No. 515 Turntable. This is the company’s first record player.
Developed in collaboration with VPI Industries, the No. 515 is a premium turntable. With its superior technology and design, this turntable should last a lifetime. It was designed for the audiophile and delivers serious sound and performance.
This turntable is built on an aluminum sandwich and a vinyl-wrapped MDF main chassis. This setup supports the 9-kg aluminum platter. The platter is guided by a belt system. The AC synchronous motor drives the belt system. The high-torque motor is fixed to the chassis. It is located in a mechanically-isolated enclosure. Vibration-dampening polymer core feet help eliminate instability and unwanted sounds.
The No. 515 has clean, natural sonics thanks to the gimbal-mounted tonearm. The tonearm is printed with 3D technology and has a counterweight that is made of stainless steel. The whole thing is mounted to a rigid aluminum arm base. There is also a vertical tracking angle that can be adjusted. The No. 515 will have the option for a factory-installed moving coil phono cartridge.
If you’d like to get your hands on the No. 515, you will have to wait a little while. It won’t be available in late 201. But, given Mark Levinson’s perfection when it comes to audio purity, we are sure that the No. 515 will be worth the wait.
