Samsung’s Q95T QLED 4K TV Gets Smart Audio and More

Building on last year’s Q85 QLED 4K TV’s smart TV interface, viewing angle, and HDR picture quality, Samsung’s new Q95T QLED 4K TV tweaks the display tech and improves on the smart sound. The new screen will be available in the first half of 2020, with no specifics on the price yet.

The TV is near-bezel-less and comes in 85, 75, 65, and 55-inch varieties. A centre-mounted stand also accommodates the latest Samsung soundbars. The Q95T also uses Samsung’s One Connect Box, which houses all the power, audio, and HDMI ports and connects to the TV with a single wire. The Q95T comes with Tap View, which allows you to view content on a smartphone just by tapping the phone on the side of the screen to mirror it (obviously you’ll need a supported device). The screen also offers Adaptive Picture. This service uses sensors in the screen to adjust the contrast and brightness settings automatically based on ambient lighting conditions. Washed out images in bright rooms will be a thing of the past. The anti-reflective screen will cut down on glare as well.

Powering the Q95T is a Samsung Quantum Processor 4K that allows for smart upscaling and smart home connectivity that includes Alexa and Google Assistant voice control. The Universal Guide smart interface has also improved. Now it can bring all your content—from Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and iPlayer—into one place, eliminating the need to switch between services. The smart audio upgrade uses what Samsung is calling “Object Tracking Sound.” This upgrade employs a real-time algorithm that analyzes what’s happening onscreen to better place the sound coming out of the speakers built into the sides, top, and front of the TV. That sound can be further enhanced using a soundbar. What’s more, the audio system also features Active Voice Amplifier, which boosts the frequencies of dialogue when loud noises are detected in your room.
