Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are Teaming Up for ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’
In what could be a stroke of casting genius, Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are teaming up for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the next project from Pachinko and After Yang director Kogonada. Coming off the success of last year’s hit, Barbie, Robbie takes on a new adventure in this project, marking her first post-Barbie collaboration. Meanwhile, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey marks a reunion for Kogonada and Farrell, who previously collaborated on 2021’s After Yang alongside Jodie Turner-Smith.
Kogonada is set to direct the script from a screenplay penned by The Menu writer Seth Reiss. While no plot or synopsis has been teased, ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey‘ is billed “as an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them.” The film is slated to begin shooting sometime this spring in California. CAA Media Finance and 30West represent the film’s worldwide distribution rights.

No casting details beyond Robbie and Farrell have been shared and it’s currently unclear what roles the two will play. In addition to directing, Kogonada will serve as an executive producer alongside Ilene Feldman and Ori Eisen of Original Films. Producing duties will be handled by Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Ryan Friedkin of Imperative Entertainment, along with Reiss and Youree Henley.
Imperative Entertainment has been making waves with their recent projects, including Scorsese’s epic film Killers of the Flower Moon, which racked up an impressive 10 Oscar nominations after a seven-year journey from development to production. They’ve also been behind the Emmy-nominated limited series Black Bird and the Palme d’Or-winning film Triangle of Sadness.
Robbie, who not only starred in but also produced last year’s smash hit Barbie through her LuckyChap banner, is riding a Hollywood wave unlike any other. The film shattered expectations and box office records, grossing a staggering USD$1.4 billion worldwide, solidifying her place among Hollywood’s leading ladies. Not only did the film become a cultural phenomenon, but it also garnered critical acclaim, including a coveted Best Picture nomination alongside its eight other Oscar nods.
Colin Farrell’s most recent projects include Matt Reeves’ The Batman and The Banshees of Inisherin (both 2022), with the latter earning him an Oscar nomination. He is also set to star in the private-eye drama series Sugar, which hits Apple TV+ on April 5, and in Reeves’ The Batman spin-off TV series Penguin, which releases sometime later this year on Max.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey currently has no release date.
