Swatch x Omega Moonswatch: Release, Price, Styles

Swatch and Omega have officially come together for an innovative (and affordable) collaborative take on the classic Speedmaster Moonwatch. The watch to have in 2022, OMEGA recently dropped two gold twins in the form of Speedmaster Moonwatches (selling out in minutes) and today, the brand turns a new chapter in history with a clean lineup of planet inspired pieces courtesy of its latest Swatch x Omega Bioceramic Moonswatch collection releasing March 26th in Australia.

Otherwise referred to as ‘The First OMEGA Watch in Space,’ the Omega Speedmaster ref. CK 2998 made history when astronaut Walter Schirra wore the watch during the ‘Sigma 7’ mission of the Mercury Programme in 1962. He purchased the watch himself, but just over two years later, it would become certified by NASA for all manned missions cementing its place in history. Since then, the watch has been revered for its astrological history. Let’s check out the details of the collaboration.

Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Release Information

Release date: 26th March 2022.
Where to buy: In-store at Swatch flagship stores Sydney, Melbourne.
Price: $380 AUD.

The Swatch x OMEGA collection is breaking the internet not only for its entry price ($380 AUD) but its assortment of special coloured dials, contrasting straps, and intricate detailing. Each watch includes a genuine VELCRO strap, with details found on the subdials such as ‘diamonds’ (Venus) and even a full illustration of Saturn found on the ‘Mission to Saturn’ variation (our personal favourite).

Each watch includes Swatch and Omega branding on the dial alongside the iconic Speedmaster logo and the new MoonSwatch logo. More branding can be found on the strap and a “hidden” S  can be found on the crystal glass integrated in the centre. While the watch is by no means at the extreme end of detail – as found on a high-end OMEGA product – however, the Swatch collaboration remains subtle in its application with quality bioceramic construction, classic sharp and smooth lugs, and even the iconic “dot over 90” detail on the tachymeter scaled bezel remains. All hours, minutes, chronograph seconds hands and hour markers sport superluminova for a perfect glow in the dark.

“OMEGA’s long and distinguished history may have been cut short if it wasn’t for the vision and the courage taken by Swatch. The MoonSwatch collection salutes the saviours of our industry in a witty and accessible way. The Swatches are perfect for budding Moonwatch fans and I can’t think of a more appropriate icon for our shared project. We went to the moon, now we’re exploring the whole Milky Way. They’re great watches, in fantastic colours and they make me smile,” said OMEGA President and CEO Mr Raynald Aeschlimann in a statement.

Images of all colours are linked below, taking you straight to each watches individual page for more information. The collection is set to release in Australia on March 26th 2022, in-store only in Sydney (Pitt Street) and Melbourne (Chadstone) flagship Swatch boutiques. Expect these to fly off the shelves on release, with a spokesperson for Swatch Australia confirming to Man of Many that restocks will be held in the future. A limit of two watches will be available to purchase per customer. Which one are you looking to pickup?
