LG Reveals Pricing and Release Dates for 2022 TV Range

As we enter the cooler months and people look to rug up in front of some quality home entertainment, LG Electronics Australia has unveiled their TV range for 2022. The offering includes 42 models across five model families, with prices starting from AU$1,079 through to AU$59,999. Promising upgrades to some of their most popular models – the C2 OLED, the new LG ART90 Lifestyle TV, the world’s largest LG OLED TV, and the new 8K QNED Mini LED models – the brand promises to deliver improved picture quality and smart features to help Australians better connect with their viewing experience.

Last year was the biggest year for LG TV sales in Australia. This was primarily due to lockdown restrictions, with consumers looking to improve their home entertainment options by either building a home theatre or taking the opportunity to upgrade their TV. The OLED C1 range drove the bulk of their success at 55″ and 65″ sizes, with the company experiencing double-digital sales growth in 2021.

LG divides its TVs into three categories, the Good (UHD), Better (QNED), and Best (OLED). While they have grown their 8K offering, the focus remains on 4K models due to the lack of 8K content currently available. Looking at the macro-improvements in 2022, consumers should expect upgrades to Brightness Boosting, webOS functionality and connectivity through its LG ThingQ AI platform.

LG OLED aims to deliver a premium viewing experience for home cinema buffs. Dolby Vision™ IQ intelligently adjusts the contrast and brightness based on the content and room ambient lighting conditions. Meanwhile, FILMMAKER MODE™ allows users to rediscover movies the way the director intended by turning off motion smoothing to preserve a unique cinematic feel. Additionally, Dynamic Tone Mapping PRO, available in top models, apply optimal tone curve up to 5,120 times per frame, resulting in higher contrast and detail in bright areas on HDR content.

For gamers, LG OLED is the first TV manufacturer to feature NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, which provides gaming without tearing, stuttering or input lag for a more immersive and realistic experience. Furthermore, the Game Optimiser and Game Dashboard function is a new central location for players to access and adjust settings, including VRR, ALLM and eARC, enabling fast-moving content at high resolutions and smooth synchronised audio and graphics.

The new Dark Room Mode can also be accessed via Game Optimiser, allowing for optimised screen brightness when gaming with the lights off. Finally, new cloud gaming features are now available across the entire 2022 LG TV range, offering support for NVIDIA GeForce NOW. Gamers can enjoy more than 80 free-to-play games, for a monthly subscription of AU$19.99, with a compatible controller (sold separately.

For sports lovers, LG boasts several new features to bring consumers even closer to the action. Capturing all the fast-paced competition, OLED Motion technology creates minimal blur and picture clarity where it matters most. LG gas expanded the Sports Alert notifications across new codes this year, including AFL, NRL and International Rugby Union. By joining existing sports, including Premier League, NBA and NFL games, users can stay across multiple matches simultaneously.

LG’s 2022 Lifestyle TV has a brand new design. The LG OBJET hosts a TV inside a frame that leans up against the wall, the same way we see oversized mirrors against the wall. The TV features two states, open and closed. The cover slides up over 70% of the display in the closed state, leaving a mini display for simple necessities like time, weather, and song names. The IBJET aka ART90 will be available in 3 colours: Redwood, Green and Beige.
