Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ is a One-of-One Charity Tribute to the Pixar ‘Cars’ Icon

The great creative minds at Porsche AG have built a tribute to ‘Sally’ from Pixar’s Cars that will be auctioned for charity at the upcoming Monterey Car Week via RM Sotherby’s. Based on the most agile variant in the range, the ‘Sally Special’ is built on the 911 Carrera GTS platform and includes a manual gearbox, custom Sallybluemetallic paint, and five-arm Turbo-look wheels reinterpreted by Porsche designers in Weissach and manufactured especially for the 911 Sally Special. The vehicle will be auctioned off on the 20th of August 2022.

The Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ is a one-of-a-kind model that features bespoke detailing thanks to Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart. Images below outline the extent to which the car has been customised, starting with the interior that’s been completely reworked with new materials used throughout, key detailing on the door cards, a custom key, ‘Kachow Mode’ on the steering wheel and a plethora of ‘Sally Special’ logos around the cabin.

On the exterior of the vehicle, you’ll first be drawn to the rear and that cheeky tattoo hidden under the rear wing. The brand has gone as far as to include a Cars logo on the valve caps and “Powered by GTS” Kachow style detailing under the rear hatch.

“We had great fun creating 911 Sally Special and it’s the first time we’ve worked on a project of this kind. We decided early on that we wanted to create a completely drivable 911 – inspired by Sally Carrera, but just not an exact copy. Sally Carrera loves to drive – that was our inspiration. We asked ourselves: if Sally were built today as a road-approved model, what would she look like?” said Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise of Pixar Animation Studios.

Powered by the 911 GTS 473 hp twin-turbo flat-six engine and backed by a seven-speed manual transmission, the lucky buyer will also receive a book charting the design and development of the car, original sketches by Porsche designer Suichi Yamashita and Pixar’s Cars Production Designer Bob Pauley, a one-of-one Porsche Design timepiece, a second set of ‘Carrera Exclusive’ design wheels with custom-made wheel rack, and a matching indoor car cover by Porsche Tequipment.

“Vehicles need a face and a story. And the animated Pixar film Cars has done just that by bringing cars to life on the big screen. The story conveys values such as friendship, love and mutual support – and in the middle of it all is a Porsche: ‘Sally Carrera’. Together with Pixar, we have brought the spirit of Sally to life in a new way, not on the screen, but off the screen. With this one-off street legal 911, the ‘Sally Special’, which we are auctioning for charity, we want to help people who urgently need support, quite in keeping with the spirit of the film character,” said Dr Sebastian Rudolph, Vice President Communications, Sustainability and Politics at Porsche AG.

The Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ will be auctioned for charity on August 20, 2022, via RM Sotheby’s and the link below. All proceeds will benefit Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and we’d expect bidding to get deep into the seven figures range.
