With Vera, Tarform Brings the Motorcycle of Tomorrow into Today

After shocking the world in 2021 with its futuristic cafe racer Luna, New York-based motorcycle maker Tarform has returned with a stunning new piece with its sights set on urban mobility. Vera, the company’s second motorcycle again follows a minimalist design philosophy, complete with a careful veneer of retro-infused detailing. However, unlike Luna, which found celebrity buyers like Diplo, Vera is taking a bold new stance, tackling the scrambler market.

Designed to pull double duty as both an urban daily driver and off-roader, Vera’s striking proportions are again reminscent of the hikes of yesteryear, most notably with the Ducati Scrambler. Among the details that caught our eye are the aluminium frame, Ohlins suspension and perhaps most excitingly, the 17-inch wheels. In a sense, the Tarform Vera is a straightforward modern design, with a healthy retro undertone.

In a release, Tarform went on to explain that the bike also has a direct drive system, which removes the need for a gearbox altogether. Further to this, buyers can upgrade the battery as well as the motor while keeping the motorcycle for a longer time. There are, of course, Over-the-air (OTA) updates and connected technology features too.

Priced at USD$16,000, the Vera is also much more affordable than the Luna yet manages to pull off impressive specs with a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. It will also do 100 miles on a full charge and run at a top speed of 80 mph plus. The motorcycle will charge in two hours and also features regenerative braking, a function that adds to the range. A key detail is also its lightweight design which brings the overall weight of the motorcycle down to 360 lbs. Along with being electric, there is also further sustainability with the use of plant-based composites and cleaner sources for some of the components.

The Vera will unlock larger volumes and bring in more buyers as Tarform looks to expand its reach across other markets. In our eyes, the Vera does a remarkable job at standing out from the usual electric motorcycle market, and with a competitive price point and a serious emphasis on fun factor, it’s hard to draw too many critiques of this new release. While established motorcycle makers have slowed to the electric bike party, many start-ups are now mushrooming to take advantage of this and Tarform is one of the most promising ones yet. Tarform has confirmed deliveries of the new Vera electric scrambler will begin in 2025.
