Toilet Paper Calculator Uses Wipe Count To Measure Your TP Stocks

In terms of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s one thing that has garnered more attention than anything else—the rush on toilet paper. Ok, that’s not exactly true, but what is true is that people have been hoarding toilet paper, emptying out racks at stores and presumably filling their garages with the precious paper. With so many people freaking out over getting more than their fair share of toilet paper, how do you determine how much you actually need? London-based student software developer Ben Sassoon has created an online program that tells you where you stand with your store of toilet paper.

How Much Toilet Paper Calculator

After a discussion with artist Sam Harris regarding how much toilet paper they use in a day and how much that would change during the pandemic, Sassoon created a web site that is out to help reduce the worldwide toilet paper shortage. Over 5,000,000 people have visited the site so far, which features sliders that let you pick out the number of toilet rolls you have and the number of times you go to the bathroom every day. There are also some advanced settings that let you select the number of wipes you perform per trip, the number of sheets you use per wipe, the number of sheets on a roll, and the length of your quarantine. According to the site, the average user has 500 per cent more toilet paper than they actually need for the quarantine.

One challenge to be aware of is that this calculator is based on UK metrics, and your location may be different. The site notes that “users in the USA were quick to inform us that their situation is different . Toilet paper in the USA is far thinner, and often not always double-ply. Their rolls are also therefore much larger—with some rolls going up to 1250 sheets.” That’s where the advanced options come into play.

If you’re worried about your toilet paper situation, then head over to the site and see how you’re doing. Chances are, you’ll be wiping just fine throughout your quarantine experience.
