Australia’s First Dorsett Hotel has a 750kg Marble Check-In Desk

Australia’s first Dorsett Hotel has opened on the Gold Coast, offering travellers a first glimpse at the $400 million project set to redefine the skyline. Housed within the 53 storey, 178m high tower, Dorsett Gold Coast features 313 lavish rooms perched neatly above The Star’s world-class entertainment and leisure precinct.

Located on the footsteps of Broadbeach, the new hotel spruiks the same beach access, coastal views and restaurant thoroughfare that locals have come to love, albeit a decidedly familiar twist.

“We are delighted to have landed on Queensland’s famous Gold Coast with the first Dorsett hotel in Australia,” Andrew Jessop – Dorsett Hospitality International Australia Chief Operating Officer tells us. “Being part of Australia’s holiday mecca provides us with a wonderful opportunity to showcase what Dorsett is all about to a very wide audience domestically and internationally when our overseas tourists return.”

There are nods to the region sprinkled throughout each room, from the locally-created artwork to the hinterland inspired colour palette, but the jewel remains front and centre. Stepping inside the expansive lobby, guests are treated to views of a breathtaking chandelier, matched only by the imposing 750kg sculpted marble check-in desk that greets them.

“Central to the offering is that The Dorsett is the newest hotel forming part of the integrated resort at The Star at Broadbeach. That opens up a world of experiences for our guests on the doorstep of the hotel,” Jessop says. “Restaurants, bars, shows, gaming, recreation, meeting events and so on. There is nowhere else on the coast that can offer this. We are very excited to be part of it.”

Best of all, a boardwalk links the hotel to The Star Grand property in the complex’s flagship building, providing seamless access to guest facilities. From bars and restaurants to a theatre and flexible conference rooms, the latest property is banking on versatility as its key calling card.

Unveiled on Boxing Day, the Australia-first destination marks the first of many Dorsett properties set to open Down Under over the next few years. New-build Dorsett Hotels are currently under construction in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, signalling a return to confidence for the international tourism market, but that’s not all.

“We are looking very hard at other locations and hope to work with other partners to bring Dorsett to other capital cities and resort destinations when possible,” Jessop says.

With the launch of Dorsett Gold Coast, the Hong Kong hospitality brand now boasts an international footprint in 25 major cities worldwide, totalling 55 properties globally. With an Australian empire on the mind, this luxury destination could be one to watch.
