“Atypical” means irregular, not typical, not conforming to the type. It’s an interesting word to use, but it’s also a pretty apt description of the Rosetti 38m EXP MY Emocean. For starters, the Rosetti Marino shipyard has built offshore platforms and vessels for use in the harshest environments for decades, so building an explorer yacht was new ground for them. The Emocean is an explorer yacht that doesn’t really look like one with its 8.85-meter beam and a gross tonnage of 432 GT.
The exterior of the Emocean comes via Hydrotrec and features straight, angular lines with plenty of large windows and openings—at the request of the owners, a couple that is experienced and seasoned in travelling in harsher climes. To accommodate the large windows and sliding doors that create wide sea views in the main salon, the engine room ventilation shafts have been moved further forward. Cutaway bulwarks and side decks are accessed by two large sliding doors.
The interiors, which was crafted by Burdisso/Capponi Yachts&Design, cops a custom-designed “wine cellar” that holds 150 bottles. On either side of this cellar, you’ll find the master stateroom and guest areas. The stateroom also features a private office as well as his and hers bathrooms and a walk-in closet. Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck along with the beach club.
The galley boasts nearly 3,000 litres of fridge-freezer capacity, and there is a large storage room with dedicated laundry. The sundeck offers a Jacuzzi pool, a large dining table for 12 people, a gym area, and a large bar.
Exploring is taken care of by twin MAN D2868 LE 425 engines. When things get rough, electric CMC stabilisers help keep things comfortable. The Emocean has been optimised for cruising at between 10 to 11 knots. This may not be the typical fare for those involved, but sometimes being “atypical” is a good thing.
