Whether you want to roll like a king or a kingpin, the Land Rover Sentinel duly abides. In the brand’s own words, this is the SUV to “get if you often feel like someone may be cooking a bullet with your name on it.” Emphasising as much is the bulletproof exterior with smoked glass windows, projecting a downright official vibe in the truest sense of the concept. Now, this sleek and armoured SUV is more powerful than ever before.
While the 2020 Sentinel retains a number of its predecessor’s design features, it comes equipped with a new supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. As a result, the SUV now goes from 0 to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds and produces 375 hp. It might sound unimpressive until you remember how heavy all that armoured protection is. Speaking of which, high-strength steel and multi-laminated armoured glass ensure that the Sentinel isn’t just bulletproof, it’s blast-certified as well. Also featured are anti-tamper exhaust, a self-sealing fuel tank, a backup battery system, and run-flat tires. As if all that wasn’t enough, sirens and emergency light packages are available as add-ons.
Inside, the SUV is no less legit. This is a Land Rover, after all. To that end, expect the same amenities you’d normally get from the brand, including the latest Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10″ touchscreens. Unique to the Sentinal is a specially configured front window, which was designed for important document deliveries. It drops a maximum of 5.9″ and features a public address system, allowing the occupant to signal people outside the vehicle in boss-like fashion.
Naturally, the 2020 Land Rover Sentinel will cost you. On the other hand, if you’re the type who needs one, then you’re also the type who can afford one.
