The Carfax report for the 2000 BMW M5 being offered on Bring a Trailer notes that the car was inspected in April 2003 for damage sustained during a natural disaster. So what does that mean for interested buyers? Only that this car not only still looks good, but is one tough customer.
The M5 features a 4.9 litre S62 V8 that produces 400 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The V8 combines with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A shifter from an E60 5-Series has also been installed.
The previous owner was fastidious about the car’s maintenance, and he installed a new rear main seal, clutch, motor and gearbox mounts, thermostat, accessory belts, LUK clutch and flywheel, pilot bearing, flex disc, gearbox input shaft seal, four new camshaft sensors, spark plugs, coolant expansion tank, fluid and filter changes, and headlight levelling screws.
The exterior is finished in Schwarz II—jet black—with factory Style 65 alloy wheels. The car has been modified with window tint and smoked headlight lenses, and a replacement steering wheel was added. The interior is trimmed in Black Nappa leather with wood trim.
Anyone picking up this BMW will be getting a car that has been through it, and come out looking good on the other side.
