Porsche’s sports car entry point has had another facelift. Instead of using the word ‘downsize’, it has switched from a flat six cylinder to a turbocharged four cylinder that is more fuel efficient and faster. It now does zero to 60mph in 4.9 seconds, the first time it’s been under five. The upgrade in driving dynamics has been accompanied by a more responsive drivetrain, which means better all-round handling. From the outside, the new model has a wider front end with a new bumper and new bi-xenon headlamps. On the back, they implemented 3D LEDs with four-point brake lights and a black strip with “Porsche” lettering between them, which is reminiscent of the 911 Carreras of the 1990s.
There’s a first for everything and Porsche have gone this phrase by setting the price of the 718 Cayman lower than the Boxster at a base price of $110,000.
