The Porsche 911 Carrera is one of those rare sports cars that has achieved a legendary status. Fewer sports cars have sold in higher numbers than the 911. Porsche says that more than 70 percent of 911s ever produced are still on the road. Porsche is celebrating the fact that it has produced 1,000,000 of these iconic cars with a special 911.
Fifty-four years after the first model was made, the one millionth Porsche 911 Carrera S rolled off the production line in Zuffenhausen. Dr. Wolfgang Porsche was behind the wheel. This Porsche 911 was trimmed to reflect the very first 911 from 1963.
Powered by a 414 horsepower turbocharged engine, this vehicle is capable of speeds of up to 191 mph. It can go from zero to 62 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Like any true sports car, it features include a manual transmission with three pedals.
This unique Porsche features a wooden steering wheel, houndstooth seats and is painted a bright Irish green colour just like the first 911 ever made. Gold accent trim perfectly contrasts the green. Other interior features include leather and wood trim, black and white checkered inserts and touches of silver on the mirror covers. There is also a commemorative plaque on the dash indicating the significance of this particular vehicle.
Unfortunately, this Porsche is not for sale. It will tour around Europe, China and the United States before heading home to the Porsche Museum.
