DJI Smart Controller Replaces Your Phone for Controlling Your Drone
Drones are awesome. They’re fun and functional, but having to use your smartphone to control them isn’t the most efficient approach.
DJI agrees, and that’s why they’ve come out with the DJI Smart Controller.
The smart controller takes all the components you would normally use to get a brighter screen—like a Crystal Sky monitor, a mounting system, cables, and the remote itself—and combines it into one unit. The DJI Smart Controller uses a 5.5 inch screen that is built into the controller. That screen is also very bright, with an output of 1000 cd/m2. That bright of a screen will be fine even in direct sunlight, so no more running for the shade to control your drone.
You can use it on either 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz, and has a range of up to 8 km. The controller is heavier than most, but once you add in the weight of a smartphone, that weight difference becomes negligible.
You may still be wondering why you would need this new controller, aside from the fact that it’s nearly twice as fast as your Android phone. The screen brightness itself is a strong argument, but also consider the power drain on your phone.
Instead of ending up with a dead phone when you’re out flying, why not use the battery of the controller? Plus, there’s always the inevitable text or notification that pops up on your phone, interrupting your flight, which this new controller eliminates altogether.
