What are Erogenous Zones?

Put simply, erogenous zones are the areas of your body that are sensitive to sexual stimulation. This could come in the form of touch, pressure or vibration and contribute to sexual arousal. Knowing what these pleasure points are can help you to create a more lasting physical connection. We know that sex is great, but the idea of turning someone on with a simple touch is something we should all strive to achieve. That is where the erogenous zones for males and females come in.

25 Erogenous Zones for Males

According to experts, men have precisely 25 erogenous zones on their body. Sure, it’s no surprise that your meat and two veg are highly sensitive to sexual stimulation, but where exactly are the other 23? It turns out the body parts that have a high concentration of nerve endings that are particularly sensitive to touch, pressure or vibration will garner the most arousing of results.

Knight suggests that understanding the 25 pleasure points for men will help you to enhance your sexual happiness, giving you the tools to boost your love life in the process. “Most of us are completely unaware of all the pleasure zones on our bodies and we are missing out on a lot of sexual happiness by not exploring them all,” she says. “Everyone is different and responds in different ways to different kinds of touch. Knowledge is the key when trying to improve sexual experience.”

Here are the 25 most common pleasure points for men.

Front of the body

Aside from the obvious appendages, the front of your body has a number of areas that must be addressed. Some of them are a little more unexpected than you would think.

1. Scalp

The scalp is an erogenous zone for males and females. “It is full of nerve endings and even the slightest brush of the hair can send tingles through your body,” Knight says. In order to heighten pleasure, run your fingernails over your partner’s scalp, paying special attention to the space behind the ears and just above the neck.

2. Brain

The most important erogenous zone of them all, dictating how our bodies respond to stimulation. “The most important erogenous zone for both sexes is, of course, the brain. It fires our imaginations, making us better and more imaginative lovers, and it makes the connection between visual stimulation and physical touch even more intense,” Knight says.

3. Eyes

While not the most obvious erogenous part of our body, the eyes are an important one psychologically. “Just looking at a person in a certain way or being watched can create sexual pleasure,” Knight says. “Pupils dilate when we are aroused, making us appear more attractive to the opposite sex.”

4. Lips

One of the body’s most exposed erogenous zones, the lips are vitally important to sexual stimulation in both men and women. They are packed with sensitive nerve endings so even the slightest brush sends lots of information to the brain,” sex expert Knight says.

5. Nipples

“Clearly not as sensitive as female nipples but still highly responsive to touch and likely to go hard if nibbled or licked. Also highly responsive to temperature play – see how they react to an ice cube.”

6. Inner arms, Armpits and Wrists

You’ve probably noticed that the inside of our arms is much more sensitive than the outsides.  Anyone with an arm tattoo can attest to that. Lovehoney offers a bunch of items that are perfect for stimulating this area. One such product is the pinwheel. “Try running this lightly down the outside of yours or your partner’s arm from the shoulder to the fingertips, then back up the inside of their arm,” Knight says.  “Pinwheels may look scary, but they’re actually very gentle!”

7. Hands

“Our hands are used for so much and are such a huge part of our sense of touch that it stands to reason they need to be able to feel many different sensations,” Knight reveals.

8. Fingertips

Research indicates that our fingertips are the most sensitive parts of our entire body., but although your hands can be used to pleasure practically every other part of the body, they also deserve a little love themselves.

9. Belly button

Knight explains that being close to the genitals makes this area especially arousing. “Use your tongue, fingertips or even a feather to trace circles around the navel. This is a great spot for some temperature play – so delicately drop an ice cube into the navel if the idea excites your partner.”

Lower Body

Working our way down, past the chest and hands, we reach the lower body. This area includes most of the super-obvious pleasure points for men, but don’t be fooled, there are a lot more you should be aware of.

10. Penis

One of the more obvious pleasure points for men, the penis is a bit of a no-brainer. Amazingly, this erogenous area has 4,000 nerve endings. If you want to double the pleasure, stimulate it using a stroker.

11. Frenulum

Hard to say, but once you know what this is, you’ll realise you are already acquainted with this body part. The frenulum is the elastic piece of skin on the underside of the penis, where the shaft meets the head. It is highly sensitive and the primary trigger of orgasms in people with penises.

12. Foreskin

The foreskin is filled with nerve endings that actually enhance pleasure for those with uncircumcised penises.

13. Scrotum

The scrotum both protects and regulates the temperature of the testicles and can be one of the most sensitive parts of the male anatomy.

14. Testicles

Along with the scrotum, this area has a similar number of nerve endings to the vagina and is responsive to cupping, sucking and licking.

15. Perineum

This is a sensitive area of skin between the scrotum and the anus. Responds well to gentle rubbing or pressure.

16. Prostate

“This walnut-sized gland sits at the root of the penis and is often described as the ‘male G-spot.’ Stimulating it can cause powerful orgasms,” Knight says. In order to stimulate the male G-Spot, you can use a finger, though it can be difficult to reach and a prostate massager may be better for this purpose.

17. Perineum

This is the technical name for what we commonly refer to as the taint or gooch. The perineum is the part of your body between your vagina and anus, or testicles and anus. “Because of the area, it’s in and its proximity to two big nerves (the deep and the superficial perieneal nerves), it’s in prime position to offer some deep-seated pleasure.”

18. Inner Thighs

Just like the insides of your arms, the soft skin on the inside of your thighs is extra-receptive to touch. Paying attention to them can be great for building anticipation for what’s to come.

Back of the body

While the front of the body houses most of the more obvious pleasure points for men, the back of the body also needs a bit of attention.

19. Ears

Surprisingly, the ears are actually one of the biggest pleasure points for men and women. With sensitive skin on the outside and hundreds of sensory receptors on the inside, the ears rank highly as erogenous zones for both sexes.

20. Nape of Neck

With a high number of nerve endings, this area on the back of the neck, where the back of your hairline begins can be extremely sensitive to touch.

21. Back

“The back is where a lot of us carry our stress and tension,” Knight says. “Finding ways to release the tension that we hold in the muscles of our backs feels amazing, and can be a great starter to a sexy evening in. The lower back often feels extra-enjoyable to stroke because it’s so close to our pelvis and is an area that isn’t often touched directly in any other way.”

22. Back of the Knees

Though the backs of the knees might seem like a strange place to consider an erogenous zone, many people have found that areas where blood vessels are closest to the skin (like the back of the knees) are extra responsive to touch.

23. Ankles

Similar to the back of the knees, the ankles are areas of great tension and house many blood vessels.

24. Feet

With a multitude of nerve endings to take care of, the feet are ultra-sensitive to touch. “Feet have a lot more to offer in the pleasure stakes than many people realise – and certain schools of thinking believe that certain areas of the feet correspond to other areas of the body, meaning that by showing them a little attention, you could be lighting up lots of different places at once!” Knight says.

25. Anus

According to Lovehoney, “Everyone’s got one, and they’re all packed with the potential for some serious pleasure.” There are tons of nerve endings around the butt which, when awoken, can enhance all kinds of play, from masturbation, to penetrative sex, to massage, and so much more.
