There’s nothing worse than getting to the airport ready to check-in to your flight, only to realise your trusty iPhone is dead. Time to tear through your luggage to find the right adaptor, cables and if you’re lucky, somewhere to plug it all in. Absolute nightmare right? Not anymore, thanks to Aussie luggage lords July. The brand’s signature Carry On case has all the bells and whistles you need to kick off your next work trip, weekend end or world-traversing adventure.
As far as carry-on luggage goes, we’ve seen some pretty questionable attempts over the last few years. Weekenders and tote bags might serve you well on short stays, but if you’ve got anything worth keeping safe and secure, you really need a specialised case. The Cary On from July is one we’ve had our eye on for a while, and with Father’s Day coming up soon, you should too.
From the outset, you can tell that this suitcase is more than just a piece of luggage. Designed to hold the maximum amount allowed inside the cabin, the Carry On is a medium-sized case that is sleek, sharp and most importantly, high-tech. It cops an ejectable battery that is approved for flying across all major airlines. Best of all, the battery comes with standard USB and USB-C docks that charge both phone and laptop devices, meaning you’ll never run out of juice in the airport again.
From a design perspective, the Carry On looks like a premium release. Crafted from 100 per cent aerospace-grade German polycarbonate, the case has a unique curved eggshell design. While it looks a little futuristic compared to other luggage brands on the market, there is method to the madness. According to July, the curved design minimises damage, helping to make the case more functional overall. At 3.4kg, the Cary On isn’t the lightest case out there, but it’s nothing a little elbow grease can’t handle.
Running the case through its paces shouldn’t be a trouble either, the ultra-durable case is meant to be virtually crush-proof. While that definitely sounds like a challenge, July has added anodised aluminium bumpers for extra protection on hard drops. While the case comes in a multitude of colours, it’s pretty hard to go past the classic charcoal or monochrome finishes. Sure, it might be cliche, but there’s just something classy about an all black case.
Packing & Security
Inside the case, July has made things pretty easy. The Carry On has copped its signature July Y-Strap Compression System, which helps to stabilise all your gear while in transit. All you need to do is pull the strap down to create more space in your case, which is good if you’re not great at culling the amount of clothes you need for a trip. If there is one downside here, it’s probably the lack of dedicated gear pockets for your equipment, but that being said, the crush-proof outer does keep things pretty secure.
If you are worried about security, you’ll be happy to find an integrated TSA lock comes as standard. We’d definitely recommend copping an extra travel lock or belt to make things safer, though.
Warranty & Father’s Day Deal
While the Carry On from July is a pretty solid addition to your travel collection, what we really love is the Aussie brand’s commitment to quality. The brand is a willing to offer a lifetime warranty on manufacturing faults, along with a 100 day trial. Even better, until 6 September, July is offering free personalisation, free shipping and a complimentary Orbitkey leather key organiser worth AUD$45 with every item purchased from their Father’s Day Gift Edit. If you want to up your luggage game or your old-boy could do with a carry-on upgrade, July has you sorted this Father’s Day.
