Louis Vuitton’s Horizon rolling luggage collection started out with a colourful design and a hard shell. The new capsule kept the colours but opted for a soft approach with curving shapes. Designed by Marc Newson for the modern traveller, the luggage is made of custom created yarn that consists of elastic and thermo-fusible thread and uses Louis Vuitton’s unique seamless knitting technology.
The soft outer shell is thermo-formed. Completely water repellant, the Horizon line is finished in double-sided jacquard and Newson’s interpretation of the Louis Vuitton signature monogram. The collection consists of six different colours and comes in the shape of a rolling duffel and trolley.
Pouches were added with heat welded tape. The aluminium handles are covered in leather.
Louis Vuitton brought in model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss along with Chinese-Canadian actor, singer, and model Kris Wu to showcase the capsule. In the video for the luggage, the bags are depicted as being lighter than air, and the construction of the bags seems to warrant that comparison. The new Horizon capsule collection hit stores in March with pricing starting at USD$3,000.
