When it all hits the fan, you’ll want a Custom AEV Jeep JK Wrangler Outpost II as your bug out vehicle. The Outpost II will get you anywhere and away from anything, thanks to its powertrain. Under the hood, the Outpost II has a 5.7-liter HEMI capable of 375 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. It comes equipped with a custom AEV air box, snorkel, and prefilter, as well as a torque converter.
The engine mates with an A580 five-speed automatic transmission. The shift points of the transmission have been modified to correspond with the HEMI’s power curve. All that powers heads to a high-clearance, low-pinion Dana 60 with 4.88:1 gears and an Eaton locking differential in the back and a Dana 44 with an electric locking differential in the front.
The 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3s with 17-inch Borah 356-T6 aluminum wheels keep the ride grabbing the road, while the AEV 4.5-inch DualSport suspension with high-capacity coil sprints, Bilstein 8100 shocks, and a 0.875-inch sway bar provide the ride comfort.
And speaking of comfort, there’s no need for your bug out to not be comfortable with the Outpost II. The camper portion of the Outpost opens in clamshell fashion to provide roughly an 8-foot clearance. There’s a bench that folds out into a bed, and plenty of storage space, including a closet.
Whether it’s a zombie apocalypse or the world going crazy, the Outpost II will be all you need to ride and survive the storm.
