- NOMOS Glashütte has unveiled the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer dark Ref. 793, featuring an enamel-black dial and expanded low-light visibility, for AUD $8,730.
- For the first time on the model, Superluminova extends to the city ring and home-time display, keeping more of the world-time complication visible after dark.
- The 40 mm automatic worldtimer measures 9.9 mm thick and offers 10 ATM water resistance.
They say the freaks come out at night, but once the NOMOS Glashütte Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer dark lights up, you’ll see just how freakishly good-looking this new watch is. Even when those lights come back, the enamel-black dial still dazzles. The warm-white numerals, city ring and red-and-blue home-time display all look especially sharp against all that black, with the Pepsi/Coca-Cola colours adding even more flavour to this gorgeous timepiece.
At AUD $8,730, Ref. 793 joins the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer range as its new dark-mode option. For the first time in the series, the city ring and home-time display also get the Superluminova treatment, joining the luminous hour markers and main hands, so more of that world-time information stays visible after dark.
For some, all that world-time information is just another bit of eye candy. But for global citizens and frequent travellers, NOMOS reckons the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer is the “ideal companion”, moving from one time zone to the next with a click while the 24-hour subdial at 3 o’clock keeps track of the time back home.
1/10Dark Mode That Earns Its Name
They also call it “the sport watch for every occasion, anywhere in the world”. And to be fair to NOMOS, the numbers make a decent case for the claim. Its stainless-steel case measures 40mm across, 48mm lug-to-lug, and just 9.9mm thick, while its screw-down crown helps it reach 10 ATM of water resistance. So while there’s a fair bit happening on the dial, the watch itself hasn’t ballooned into some oversized travel instrument.
That dial is where the Ref. 793 really earns its “dark” moniker. The enamel-black surface pushes the warm-white city ring, hour markers and numerals front and centre. But it’s not an all-black affair. The red-and-blue home-time display at 3 o’clock adds a nice pop of colour, while also separating day from night on the 24-hour home-time scale, for a bit of functional flourish.
NOMOS wants anyone wearing the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer dark to get the most out of the experience without spending hours reading a manual. Local time runs through the main dial, while that 24-hour subdial keeps tabs on the clock at home, or any other city you’re keeping watch over. Whenever you touch down in a new destination, or you’re set to depart on the red-eye to another city, the pusher at 2 o’clock moves the city ring and hour hand together, letting you jump between time zones without losing track of what’s happening wherever you came from.
Then, when the cabin lights dim, or the sun goes down, everything lights up. The hour markers and main hands already glowed in previous iterations of the Worldtimer, but with Ref. 793, NOMOS has added highly concentrated Superluminova to the city ring and home-time display for even more of that eerie blue glow that complements the dark in the best way possible. Most of the black dial disappears into the background, while the all-important world-time complications are bright and easy to read, no matter how dark it gets.
Of course, you can’t wear a watch this stunning without flipping it over to see what makes it tick. The late-night light show isn’t the only thing worth looking at. The see-through caseback reveals the in-house DUW 3202 automatic calibre. At only 4.8mm thick, NOMOS keeps the entire watch under 10mm even with the world-time mechanism packed inside. You also get up to 42 hours of power reserve, Glashütte ribbing, blued screws and that gold globe on the rotor. I mean, it had to compete with the front of the watch somehow, right?
