While rules keep things pure and regulated in the spirits world, sometimes the best alcoholic beverages are made when the rules are thrown out the window in favour of creating something that just tastes bloody delicious. We’ve seen it with Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream Whiskey Liqueur, Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey Liqueur, and even Fireball, but now Bundaberg is throwing its hat in the ring with a limited edition Peanut Butter Brittle Flavoured Spirit (AUD$55).

Technically, Bundy Peanut Butter Brittle can’t be called a rum as it doesn’t meet all of the strict regulations laid out in 1906. However, there’s plenty of dark Bundaberg Rum here to carry all of the gently roasted peanuts, sweet butter and brittle flavours on the palate.

Bundaberg Peanut Butter Brittle is the latest in the brand’s annual warming Winter Series, which has previously included Toasted Lamington, Coffee & Chocolate Royal Liqueur, and Campfire Rum, which was so popular the brand added it to their list of regularly available special releases. Peanut Butter Brittle is available today in bottles and pre-mix cans that blend the sweet peanut flavours with Bundy’s signature cola.

Bundaberg Peanut Butter Brittle Quick Facts:

  • Palate: Gently roasted peanuts, sweet butter and brittle flavours
  • Finish: Rich and robust
  • Serve suggestion: Neat, around a warm fire

There are some strict rules around the labelling of “rum” in Australia, but the main one is that the liquid in the bottle must be aged for a minimum of two years. Where Bundaberg Peanut Butter Brittle falls into that category, we don’t know, but with an ABV% of 37% and plenty of peanutty flavours, it’s a smooth drop that’s perfect to drink neat or on the rocks.

Alternatively, the Peanut Butter Brittle Flavoured Spirit can be purchased in cans, with a Bundaberg Winter Series Roasted Peanut Butter Brittle & Cola 4 pack 375ml priced at AUD$28.95 and available right now at the retail locations linked below.

We’ll be getting our hands on a bottle of Bundaberg Peanut Butter Brittle shortly and will update this very article once we’ve had a try. If Toasted Lamington, Coffee & Chocolate Royal Liqueur, and Campfire Rum were anything to go by, it’s going to be a delicious hit for winter here Down Under.
