With all Star Wars content, of course, comes amazing toys and merchandise. The newest announcements from Hot Toys Japan and Hasbro’s Obi-Wan Kenobi BLACK Series is just another great example of why the iconic sci-fi film series has some of the best memorabilia of all time. Forget the Mandalorian Phaser Nerf Gun and Disney‘s tease of a ‘Real’ Extending Lightsaber, Hasbro has gone one better. Feast your eyes on the new Obi-Wan Kenobi BLACK Series Saber.
As part of its Obi-Wan Kenobi BLACK Series, based on the hit new series, Hot Toys Japan and Hasbro have revealed three new products that are sure to have Star Wars fans reaching for their wallets. While there isn’t much known about the new items, the first images do appear to show some serious quality and are proper 1:1 scale models. What we do know, however, is that fans will have to wait until October to get their hands on the items. Let’s discuss what is on offer.
Given that these products are a part of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, it should come as no surprise that the first item pays homage to its titular character. First up is a beautiful replica of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber. According to reports, the handle appears to be detailed and sturdy, with grip activation and light-up action and sound effects all featured. It also has motion sensors so play combat has a more realistic feel to it.
Speaking of lightsabers though, a model of Riva’s Lightsaber will also be available for purchase. In a cool added feature, Riva’s lightsaber can even be taken apart for each blade use and of course, can then be combined. When combined, the lightsaber will come to a total of 198cm in length.
Finally, a replica of Darth Vader’s helmet will be included in the BLACK Series. Owners will be able to completely disassemble and reassemble the helmet, with parts such as the hood, mask and collar all having the ability to be removed and refitted using magnets. Of course, part of the fun of helmets is being able to wear them and this specific model will not disappoint. You’ll be able to pop on Darth Vader’s iconic helmet, with the installed SFX even replicating the villain’s loud breathing sounds.
The announced price tags for each item will unfortunately set fans back a bit. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber, Riva’s lightsaber, and Darth Vader’s helmet will be priced at ¥39,000, ¥85,000, ¥24,000 JPY (approximately $405, $885, and $250 AUD), respectively.
