Forget Rose-Coloured Glasses, Pacifico Optical Wants You To Own a Piece of the Company

Pacifico Optical makes ‘luxury affordable’ by handcrafting eyewear that’s stylish, high-quality and doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg. Historically, Aussies have had two options when it comes to sunnies: purchase designer shades which whilst high quality and on-trend were upwards of $400 a pair, or go for some $20 cheapies lacking in any sort of style or quality.

This is the gap in the market that Founder and Managing Director Alain Guglielmino identified. And since launching in 2015, he’s sold over 10,000 pairs across 80 SKUs to customers from 56 different countries. Repurchase rate of the product is at 40 per cent demonstrating those who have bought it, love it and it recently hit over $1 million in revenue.

As well as having been picked up by the likes of Harry Styles, Dacre Montgomery and Liam Hemsworth, Man of Many also partnered with Pacifico back in 2018 creating a range of sunnies which became one of Pacifico’s best-selling pairs.

This week the Australian eyewear startup announced the launch of its equity crowdfunding campaign with leading platform Equitise. Which means you can do so much more than just buy a pair of these cool sunnies, you can invest in them, owning a piece of the label for as little as $255. As a shareholder, you get discounts on products plus share in Pacifico’s future success.

Backed by an impressive team of advisors including the Founders of Institchu, it’s stocked online and through third-party e-commerce sites such as Amazon, The Iconic and Huckberry. Recently it’s also launched into prescription eyewear and has plans to create a female-focused line, as well as expand further overseas. Already 21 per cent of traffic and 15 per cent of online sales are derived from the US with no marketing – a market that is 73  times larger than Australia‘s $2.4 billion market. Probably has something to do with the fact that the glasses are handcrafted using Japanese and Italian acetates with lenses from Carl Zeiss Vision and European engineered hinges.
