Montblanc Redefines ‘Timeless Luxury’ with Meisterstück Collection
After a year at the helm of seminal German luxury house Montblanc, Marco Tomasetta is signing his name into the archive books. The artistic director has unveiled a reimagined Meisterstück leather collection, inspired by its namesake pen and dripping with subtle nods to the Hamburg-based business’ heritage. From rounder shapes and deeper blacks to the revamp of the original Montblanc emblem, the latest collection skillfully plays off both old and new, something Tomasetta has become renowned for.

Starting with a series of smaller pieces, including a compact wallet and key pouch, the new Montblanc Meisterstück leather collection lands firmly in between form and function. Not only can this addition be used in the traditional sense, it can also be worn attached to a neck strap, giving the piece greater longevity. Further to that, the new collection houses a few larger pieces, including the Neo Briefcase, a ‘novel’ take on the traditional satchel that comes complete with a metal closure, and an elevated duffle, for the weekend getaway.
“The aim was to bring the design of the collection even closer to Montblanc’s iconic symbol of timeless luxury—the Meisterstück writing instrument,” Tomasetta said. “By mirroring some of its distinguishing features like the nib itself, as well as the colour and shine of the pen’s precious resin with its smooth sensual touch, we have created pieces that truly stand out. Not simply because of their elevated design, but because they clearly showcase Montblanc’s DNA.”

According to the German brand, the new collection works to protect the integrity of the Montblanc name, highlighting the impressive design portfolio from beginning to end. The brand’s classic emblem has been revisited, adorning bags in an aire similar to those seen across the maison’s Heritage writing instrument collection. Throw in the hidden storage compartments and its easy to see that function over form ethos continue.
The new Montblanc Meisterstück leather collection was unveiled on March 10 and is available to purchase via Montblanc boutiques worldwide and online. Prices start from €180.
