Clambering across rooftops and leaping recklessly from one building to the next with razor-sharp knives strapped to our wrists is the kind of thing we’d probably need a whiskey or two to undertake. With that being the case, it feels entirely appropriate that Ubisoft has decided to celebrate the 15th anniversary of everyone’s favourite stabby gaming franchise with the launch of the Assassin’s Creed Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Crafted in collaboration with Antheum Studios and Tennessee Legend Distillery, this bourbon marks 15 years since gamers were first introduced to the fictional world of Assassins and Templars and the battle they’ve waged throughout history. Since that initial outing, there have been countless games, books and comics based on the IP, as well as that Michael Fassbender movie that was really… well… the games are good at least. And hopefully so too is the whiskey.
Crafted in the hill country of Texas and finished in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the Assassin’s Creed Straight Bourbon Whiskey reportedly offers “a rich flavour with rye spice, wheat character, and hints of cherry, vanilla and oak.” The bottle looks quite cool, too, featuring an imposing figure we’re guessing is Ezio, the protagonist from Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations, which was arguably the most consistent run in terms of quality that the franchise has seen since its inception.
Plus, it appears the bourbon is just the start of Anthem Studios’ celebration of all things Assassin’s Creed, as two more drops are scheduled to arrive later this year. The first will be the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Spiced Rum, followed by the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Vodka.
If you’d like to get your hands on this Ezio-endorsed bourbon, you can pre-order it now from LoveScotch.com for USD$69 with shipping expected to take place in early September 2022. Or, if you don’t want to wait that long, check out the 21 Best Bourbon Whiskey Brands: Top Shelf to Affordable.
