Inside the $3 Million Pyramid House in Malibu

Originally built by Bill and Sally Fletcher – a pair of Astronomy photographers – this quirky Pyramid House in Malibu was last sold in early 2020 to former Warner Bros. executive Veronika Kwan Vandenberg for a surprisingly cheap price of $2,020,000 USD. While it might appear strange and dysfunctional on its exterior, the inside of the home reveals a three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence with such features as an Analemma solar calendar embedded in the quartzite-stone floor in the living room.

Situated at the top of the Santa Monica Mountains, the Pyramid House is grounded on a 2-acre lot designed to face the magnetic north (the northern pole of Earth’s magnetic field that runs vertically down the planet). The view over the canyon is one of the best in the area and the backyard and balcony with sliding doors will have you taking in the view from all angles (pun intended).

While it might appear narrow and crowded on the interior, the Pyramid House features 3,700 square feet of interior space that includes an open-concept living room with a dining and kitchen area on the main floor. Moving around the residence and you’ll find an office and a den with a fireplace. While the interior has uncountably been changed as its moved through its various owners over the years images below display a rather appealing mid-modern application, fitting for such a geometric space.

Outside you’ll find fruit orchards, a vegetable garden, palm trees, and plenty of natural beauty alongside functional spaces like a detached garage and large storage shed. About as spiritual as houses come.
