Pour-over coffee is simple to describe and hard to repeat. You pour hot water over ground coffee in a paper filter, and the result depends on the water temperature, how fast you pour, where you pour, and how evenly the grounds get wet. Do it by hand and every cup is slightly different. The Cosori JUNI is an attempt to give that job to a machine without losing what makes pour-over good.

Most drip machines dump water through a closed plastic box. The JUNI does the opposite: the brew basket sits out in the open where you can watch the bloom rise, and a retractable nozzle traces three different pour patterns over a basket that rotates underneath it. Cosori is not a startup either. It’s a Vesync brand already well known for air fryers.

The campaign is well past its goal. As at 18 August 2026 it had raised US$254,621 from 1,275 backers against a US$10,000 target, or 2,546 per cent. It carries a Project We Love badge, and pledging closes just before 1am AEST on Sunday 23 August 2026. One important caveat for Australian readers is in the pricing section below.

What Is the Cosori JUNI?

The Cosori JUNI is an automatic pour-over coffee machine. Pour-over, sometimes called filter or drip coffee, means water passes once through a bed of ground coffee in a cone-shaped filter, using gravity rather than pressure. It’s not espresso, and it does not make espresso.

What separates the JUNI from an ordinary filter machine is that it tries to copy what a barista’s hand does, rather than simply getting water from A to B. A nozzle moves in and out while the basket turns beneath it, which lets the machine pour in a spiral, in circles, or straight into the centre. Each of those patterns extracts differently.

It also has an app. You can photograph a bag of beans and have the machine build a recipe for them, then rate the cup afterwards on acidity, sweetness, bitterness and body, and the JUNI adjusts the next brew. Cosori says the machine took three years to develop, from January 2024 to pilot production in April 2026, across three prototype generations.

Cosori JUNI Design and Build

The JUNI is built around what Cosori calls the theatre of brewing. The basket is open rather than hidden, so the bloom, the pour and the aroma are all on show. Whether that’s a feature or a gimmick depends on how you take your mornings, but it does have a practical side: you can see a bad pour happening.

The machine has a 1.5 litre capacity, according to the Specialty Coffee Association’s own listing, and a separate water reservoir sits alongside the brew column. Controls are on an interactive panel on the machine, with the app handling the more detailed recipe work.

Two mechanical details do the heavy lifting. The nozzle retracts and extends to change where the water lands, and the basket itself both rotates and vibrates. The vibration flattens the coffee bed so water cannot find a fast path through one side, and it shakes loose the carbon dioxide trapped in fresh grounds during the bloom.

How the Cosori JUNI Works

The JUNI offers four ways to brew. AI Generation scans a bean bag and builds a recipe from it. Barista Mode hands you every variable to set yourself. Quick Brew is the one-touch option. Scheduled Brew has coffee waiting at a set time.

Whichever you pick, the machine controls the same set of things. Water temperature, flow rate and volume are set at each stage of the brew, and the water is delivered in a laminar flow, meaning a smooth unbroken stream rather than a splashing one, so the grounds wet evenly instead of channelling.

The three pour patterns each do a job. A spiral pour aims for even extraction with no dry spots. A circular pour stirs the bed more, balancing extraction against flow. A centre pour agitates least and, Cosori says, gives a deeper extraction and fuller body. An optional filter pre-wet step also runs first, which rinses the paper to remove any papery taste and warms the dripper first, and staged pouring, where water goes in in stages that you can customise in Barista Mode.

The feedback loop is the part that’s genuinely unusual. After a cup you rate it, and the machine adjusts the next brew accordingly. Cosori is upfront that this uses AI and that results will keep evolving, which is a fair way of saying it’s not a finished system yet.

Cosori JUNI Pros and Cons

Based on the campaign material and the SCA listing, here’s how the Cosori JUNI looks.

What We Like

  • SCA Certified Home Brewer status is independently verifiable on the SCA’s own list, not just a marketing claim
  • Three genuine pour patterns from a moving nozzle and rotating basket, rather than a fixed showerhead
  • The open basket lets you see and smell the brew, and spot a bad extraction as it happens
  • Four brew modes span one-touch through to full manual control of every variable
  • Cosori is an established Vesync brand with real manufacturing behind it, not a first-time maker
  • Free shipping and a two-year limited warranty on the pledge tiers

What to Keep in Mind

  • Reward tiers are listed for the United States, Canada and the EU only, so Australian backers are not clearly covered
  • The AI taste-feedback system is explicitly still evolving, by Cosori’s own admission
  • It makes filter coffee only, not espresso, and it needs bench space and a grinder alongside
  • At US$239 and up it is expensive next to a manual dripper and a good kettle
  • Deliveries do not begin until September 2026, and November 2026 for the EU

What to Consider Before You Pledge

Start with the shipping. Every reward tier on this campaign is labelled either for the United States and Canada or for the EU, and Kickstarter flags the rewards on this campaign as shipping-restricted rather than worldwide. We could not find an Australian or Asia-Pacific tier. If you’re in Australia, ask Cosori directly at its campaign contact address before you pledge, because this is the sort of thing that’s very hard to fix afterwards.

Next, be honest about what it replaces. A V60, a gooseneck kettle and a set of scales cost well under a hundred dollars and make excellent coffee. What they do not do is make the same cup every time without your attention. That repeatability is what you’re paying for, and it’s worth a lot to some people and nothing to others.

The certification is the strongest thing in the campaign and it’s worth understanding. SCA Certified Home Brewer means the machine met the Specialty Coffee Association’s requirements on brewing temperature, timing and extraction. We checked the SCA’s own certified home brewer list and the Cosori Juni is on it, certified 2026. That’s a real third-party result, not a badge Cosori made itself.

Man of Many’s Verdict

The Cosori JUNI is the most convincing automatic pour-over pitch we’ve seen on Kickstarter, largely because the claims are checkable. The SCA certification is on the SCA’s own list, the brand has a manufacturing track record, and the mechanical approach of a moving nozzle over a rotating basket is a real attempt at the technique rather than a marketing description of a showerhead.

The reservation is not about the machine. It’s that Australian buyers are not clearly served by the reward tiers on offer, and the AI personalisation, which is the headline feature in the marketing, is the least finished part of the product. Judge it on the brewing, check the shipping, and treat the learning coffee as a bonus if it works.

Where to Buy the Cosori JUNI

The JUNI is available through its live Kickstarter campaign, which closes just before 1am AEST on Sunday 23 August 2026. These are the pledge tiers listed on the campaign, read 18 August 2026, all in US dollars against a US$299.99 RRP.

Single machine: Super Early Bird US$239, a saving of US$60.99 or 20 per cent. Early Bird US$269, a saving of US$30.99 or 10 per cent. Two-pack: US$449, a 25 per cent saving. Larger five and ten-unit tiers are listed for distributors at US$1,099 and US$2,099.

All tiers include free shipping and a two-year limited warranty. Estimated delivery is September 2026 for the United States and Canada, and November 2026 for the EU.

An Australian caveat. Every reward tier is labelled either “US & CA” or “EU”, and Kickstarter marks this campaign’s rewards as shipping-restricted rather than worldwide. We could not find an Australian tier. Contact Cosori at its campaign address to confirm whether it will ship here before pledging.

Cosori JUNI FAQs

What is the Cosori JUNI?

The Cosori JUNI is an automatic pour-over coffee machine. A retractable nozzle and a rotating, vibrating open basket reproduce three barista pour patterns, with temperature, flow rate and volume controlled at each stage of the brew.

Is the Cosori JUNI actually SCA certified?

Yes. The Specialty Coffee Association’s own certified home brewer listing includes the Cosori Juni Automatic Pour-Over Coffee Machine, certified 2026, at 1.5 litres capacity. Cosori also says it brews to the SCA Gold Cup Standard.

Does the Cosori JUNI make espresso?

No. It makes pour-over, or filter, coffee, where water passes once through ground coffee under gravity. Espresso needs pressure and a different machine.

How much does the Cosori JUNI cost?

The campaign lists a Super Early Bird at US$239 and an Early Bird at US$269 against a US$299.99 RRP, with a two-pack at US$449. All include free shipping and a two-year limited warranty. Tiers were read on 18 August 2026.

Does the Cosori JUNI ship to Australia?

Not clearly. Every reward tier is labelled for the United States and Canada or for the EU, and Kickstarter marks this campaign’s rewards as shipping-restricted rather than worldwide. Australian backers should contact Cosori through the campaign before pledging.

What does the app do?

You can photograph a bag of beans and have the app generate a recipe, then rate the finished cup on acidity, sweetness, bitterness and body so the machine adjusts the next brew. Cosori says this AI system will keep evolving after launch.

The JUNI is a rare crowdfunding machine whose central claim can be checked against a third party, and it passes. Confirm the shipping situation first if you’re in Australia, because the campaign closes on 23 August 2026.
