Large-capacity fridges have long carried a large-capacity price tag. TCL has just launched a range built to argue with that, and the entry point is $1,599.

The MEGA Refrigerator Series brings four models to Australia, spanning 496L to 596L across quad door and French door layouts. All four share the same underlying pitch: a 5 Star energy rating driven by Twin Eco Inverter technology, Metal Cooling and Pure Air filtration for food storage, and a warranty structure that runs to ten years on the compressor. That last one needs reading properly, and we get to it below.

The interesting part is what separates the four, because the pricing isn’t a simple ladder. Here’s how the MEGA range breaks down, and which model actually suits which kitchen.

1. TCL TRF590QHB 590L Quad Door Fridge

This is TCL’s flagship and its most feature-rich fridge to date. The TRF590QHB runs a 590L Quad Door layout with an integrated fridge-floor storage spot, a shallow compartment for snacks and delicate items, and a level of sectioning most fridges simply don’t offer.

Its water dispenser is a non-plumbed 2.0L unit, so there’s no installation and no plumber. At $1,899 RRP it’s the most expensive fridge here, and the dispenser plus the floor storage are what the premium over the dispenser-free TRF590QB buys. See the TRF590QHB in full.

  • RRP: $1,899
  • Capacity: 590L total
  • Layout: Quad Door, with fridge-floor storage spot
  • Water: Non-plumbed 2.0L dispenser, no installation
  • Energy: 5 Star rating, Twin Eco Inverter

2. TCL TRF590QB 596L Quad Door Fridge

Here’s the quiet value pick. The TRF590QB is the biggest fridge in the MEGA range at 596L, six litres more than the flagship, and it lists $100 below it at $1,799 RRP.

The trade is the water dispenser. TCL has built this one dispenser-free for a seamless front, a design decision as much as a cost one. If you’ve got a filtered tap, or simply don’t want a recess in the door, it’s the better looking of the two. Same Quad Door sectioning, same energy rating, more space. Take a look at the TRF590QB.

  • RRP: $1,799
  • Capacity: 596L total, the largest in the range
  • Layout: Quad Door, dispenser-free
  • Design: Seamless front, no door recess
  • Energy: 5 Star rating, Twin Eco Inverter

3. TCL TRF576FHB 575L French Door Fridge

The TRF576FHB is the entertainer’s layout. A French Door configuration puts a full-width fridge compartment at eye level with the freezer underneath, so the food you actually reach for a dozen times a day sits where you can see it. At 575L it gives up 21L to the largest quad door, and that isn’t a lot of grocery.

It carries the same $1,899 RRP as the flagship, so the choice between them is genuinely about layout rather than budget. View the TRF576FHB.

  • RRP: $1,899
  • Capacity: 575L total
  • Layout: French Door, freezer below
  • Suits: Entertaining and fresh-food-heavy households
  • Energy: 5 Star rating, Twin Eco Inverter

4. TCL TRF495FHB 496L French Door Fridge

The TRF495FHB is the one that fits. It’s the entry point to the range at $1,599 RRP and the model TCL built for a narrower footprint. That’s the practical constraint most people hit long before capacity.

At 496L it’s still a large fridge by any normal measure, roughly a hundred litres down on the quad doors, in the same French Door layout as the 576. If the cavity in your kitchen is the thing making the decision, start here. See the TRF495FHB.

  • RRP: $1,599, the range entry point
  • Capacity: 496L total
  • Layout: French Door, slimmer footprint
  • Suits: Space-conscious kitchens
  • Energy: 5 Star rating, Twin Eco Inverter

How to Choose Between the Four MEGA Models

Start with the door layout, because it decides everything else. The two Quad Door models split the cabinet into four independently sectioned compartments, and that suits households who shop in bulk and want to keep categories apart. The two French Door models put a wider fridge section on top with the freezer below, the friendlier layout if you reach for fresh food far more often than frozen.

Then look at the pricing, because it doesn’t run in a straight line. The flagship TRF590QHB and the mid-range TRF576FHB carry the same $1,899 RRP despite a 15L difference in capacity, and the TRF590QB is both the largest fridge in the range at 596L and $100 cheaper than the flagship. What you pay the extra for on the flagship is the water dispenser and the fridge-floor storage spot, not the volume. If neither of those matters to you, the maths points somewhere else.

TCL MEGA Refrigerator Series FAQs

How much do the TCL MEGA fridges cost?

The range starts at $1,599 RRP for the TRF495FHB 496L French Door. The TRF590QB 596L Quad Door is $1,799, and both the TRF590QHB 590L Quad Door and the TRF576FHB 575L French Door are $1,899. All four are available now from select retailers.

Is the TCL fridge warranty really 10 years?

Not as a single warranty. TCL includes a 3 year manufacturer's warranty, and eligible laundry and refrigeration products also get an additional 7 year parts-only warranty on the inverter compressor, beginning after the 3 years expire. That adds up to 10 years of coverage on that one component, not on the whole appliance. Terms and conditions apply.

Which TCL MEGA fridge has the most capacity?

The TRF590QB, at 596L. It's six litres larger than the flagship TRF590QHB and $100 cheaper, because it's built dispenser-free. The flagship's extra cost buys the non-plumbed 2.0L water dispenser and the integrated fridge-floor storage spot.

What is Metal Cooling and Pure Air?

They're the two food-storage features TCL fits across the MEGA range. Metal Cooling is designed to hold temperature more evenly through the cabinet, and Pure Air is a filtration system intended to neutralise odours across the compartments. Both sit alongside the 5 Star energy rating and Twin Eco Inverter compressor.

The MEGA range’s real argument isn’t the flagship. It’s that a 596L fridge with a 5 Star rating now lands at $1,799, and a 496L one at $1,599. That’s a different conversation to the one large-capacity fridges usually start. Work out your cavity first, then your door layout, then pick from the MEGA range.
