Keep Your Beer on Tap with the Igloo Kegmate Cooler

It’s the time of year when tailgates are down and parties are happening. But then, the first inkling that the party may not go quite to plan hits—the keg isn’t putting out cold beer, and there doesn’t seem to be any way of fixing that. No worries, Igloo has the solution. “In an effort to create a more convenient and sleek solution to keeping the keg beer cold,” says the cooler manufacturer’s web site, “Igloo presents it’s new jockey box system: the Kegmate.” The idea behind the new cooler is to let you “ditch the bucket and keep the keg dry.” That means cold beer with less effort—who can complain about that?

The Kegmate is indeed sleek. It’s made of stainless steel and will be a handsome addition to your tailgate gear. Aside from the stainless steel exterior, the outside also features a single faucet from which the cold beer dispenses. The tap handle, coils, and connections are all interchangeable. Just attach some CO2 and the keg, and then let the 120-inch coil on the inside of the cooler do its work. The Kegmate holds about 40 pounds of ice, so you’ll have cold beer all day long with this cooler. Alternatively, if a keg isn’t on the list, the 54 quart cooler can hold 85 12-ounce cans. For improved portability, the cooler has swing-up handles so that you and a buddy can carry it wherever the party is.

The Kegmate measures 24.4 inches long, 15.9 inches wide, and 16.5 inches deep. It weighs 16.7 pounds (without the ice, of course). Igloo is offering the cooler on their website for $399.99. Sure, a bucket of ice to go along with your keg might be cheaper, but you want your party to go right, and consistently cold beer is a good first step.
