Adventure awaits, and the 2018 Buick Regal TourX is ready to take you there. We just spent a week driving one around ourselves, and couldn't be happier with it. Put simply, this tastefully modern sedan with an extended hatch is smooth, steady, roomy, smart and safe, meaning it's more or less everything you want it to be. It moves with the grace of a shark, and retains a sense of pure balance no matter where you drive it. In the words of Buick VP Duncan Aldred, "Regal TourX is a crossover in the truest sense of the word, with the drive dynamics of a car and the versatility of an SUV." We couldn't have put it better ourselves.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOn the outside, the Buick Regal TourX touts a firmly contemporary, and luxurious, design. At the front is a winged grille, flanked by sleek LED headlights. From the side, the car almost looks like a shapely cruise missile on wheels, yet the more you drive it, the more compact it begins to feel. In other words, don't be intimidated by the Regal TourX's elongated posturing. We took it around the city and never once felt like it was too unwieldy for any tight-shouldered surroundings.\r\n\r\nUnder the hood is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces up to 250 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and comes joined by eight-speed transmission in the standard model. Also featured is advanced start\/stop technology, and AWD with active twin-clutch, amounting to a perennial sense of both security and control.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nInside, the car combines old-school elegance with new school intelligence. Specifically, the interior keeps it classic in terms of its general layout, constantly reminding you of its built-in status as a utility vehicle. However, it also throws in modern features like a 7" touchscreen (compatible with both Apple Play and Android), and the aforementioned touch start button.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSpeaking of that touchscreen, we fell in love with the GPS system. It was both tremendously intuitive and easy to operate, more so than most other navigation systems that we've come across. Apparently, you can even look up a destination on your myBuick app, and then send the directions to the GPS. We didn't get around to it, but we're certainly not surprised that it exists. Streamlined is the operative word here, folks.\r\n\r\nOh, and did we mention how roomy the car is? Indeed, the Buick Regal TourX hosts more cargo space than similar models like the Volvo V60 Cross Country, or Audi A4 Allroad. And as any adventure-seeker or family man is likely to know, a little extra space can always go a long way.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nFor those who value safety features, the 2018 Regal TourX delivers them in spades, especially if you go for one of the Drive Confidence packages. Opt for the Drive Confidence I package, and you get Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Park Assist. Should you add the Driver Confidence II package, you get even more safety features, like Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Departure Warning, among others. Meanwhile, the Regal TourX and its Sportback counterpart are the first Buicks to include an active hood pedestrian safety system.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPut it all together and you get a truly smart, balanced ride, which delivers enough room to accommodate whatever task you can throw its way. Suffice to say, whether you're flying solo on your next adventure or bringing the whole family, this brilliant machine will get you there in smooth and steady style. Thanks for the lift, Buick!\r\nCheck it out\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHave you subscribed to Man of Many? You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
