For the Norse, the Valkyries were women who chose those worthy of entry into Valhalla. After choosing their champions, these women would bring them to their eternal rest. Today, you would do well to be chosen by the new Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Inspired by Formula 1 racers, the Aston Martin Valkyrie has an other-worldly quality to it—as if it had just driven out of Odin’s halls. While the Norse Valkyries may have ridden on winged horses, this particular Valkyrie has a bit more power in its stable, roughly 1,100 horsepower to be specific.
The Valkyrie is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12 developed with Cosworth. Making the Valkyrie even more unique, it uses the V12 but has an electric motor onboard as a power boost. Aston Martin paired with Red Bull Racing to put this racer together, and there’s no doubt that their claim of it being the fastest street-legal car in the world is unfounded.
The hypercar also boasts a lean racing weight that might just have it flying around the track, thanks to its all carbon fibre construction (Aston Martin boasts that there’s not a single steel component in the entire structure). That construction combined with the V12 gives the Valkyrie a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Aston Martin continued its F1 theme by using a mid-mounted powertrain.
If this Valkyrie does pick you on the field of battle, you can rest assured that your journey to Valhalla will be a quick one.
