You can bet that mobs will disperse when the Gurkha MPV rolls up on the scene. This armored monster has a no-nonsense presence that lays down the law without saying a word.
The growl of a 6.7-liter V8 turbo diesel engine only adds to the image, not to mention the 330 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque. The power of that engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission with a 4X4 driveline shift on the fly and a 4.88 limited slip differential. That much power means this isn’t just an oversized SUV, it’s a mini-tank in its own right. Just like any tank, the MPV is war-zone ready with B7-level armoring—that’s armor strong enough to stand up to 7mm armor-piercing rounds and still keep its 12 occupants safe. Once you’re on scene, the six doors provide quick egress to get you to the action. The MPV weighs in at 19,500 pounds, and is a favorite for law enforcement (troop and prisoner transport as well as S.W.A.T.). With its flat black finish, the Gurkha MPV strikes a mean pose.
Terradyne, the manufacturer of the Gurkha MPV, specializes in military and law enforcement vehicles and is based out of Canada. Terradyne uses a base of a Ford F-550 for its Gurkhas, but the only visual carry over is the door mirrors. If the MPV seems like overkill, Terradyne does make a civilian model, the RPV, but where’s the fun in that?
