You know when Hennessey Performance gets ahold of a vehicle, you’ll end up with something awesome. Their take on the 2017 Ford Raptor is no exception. The Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6, in the words of CNET, is “over-the-top badassery.”
The VelociRaptor 6X6 takes the already impressive 2017-2018 Ford Raptor four-dour truck and adds an axle to crate the 6X6. Upgraded Fox suspension and upgraded 20-inch wheels with off-road tires are the next addition, as well as new front and rear bumpers, a rollbar, and LED lights. True to their name, Hennessey ups the performance of the Raptor with a 600 twin turbo, giving the VelociRaptor a 600 plus horsepower upgrade. The mods don’t stop there. The VelociRaptor also has stainless steel exhaust and upgraded front mounted air to air intercooler and plumbing. They also tuned up the factory computer for better performance.
But why six wheels, you might ask. You could talk about improved traction and capability, but John Hennessey provides the best answer—because we can. As Hennessey notes, however, most owners of the VelociRaptor 6X6 will probably park it as a showpiece. And with a price tag starting at $349,000, you can understand why owners of this vehicle might not want to risk beating the truck up. That being said, it will handle just about anything you throw at it, including prehistoric mountains or dunes, or modern highways with overloaded trailers.
