Veygo, Brittish short-term car insurance company, puts out a magazine that most recently has featured a list of the 30 most popular cars on Instagram. Interestingly, the list doesn’t just include supercars and luxury vehicles.
That being said, American muscle comes in at the top of the list with the Ford Mustang. Second place gives way to the popular Honda Civic. Nissan follows up in third with the GT-R. Number four goes to what might be considered the first “luxury” vehicle—the BMW M3, but then we’re heading off-road to find the Jeep Wrangler for the number five spot. The Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette follow in sequence, then a BMW M4 before we get to the fist exotic supercar—a Lamborghini Aventador at number nine. The tenth spot goes to the Audi R8.
The list is an interesting mix of vehicles that includes Subarus, Mini Coopers, Porsches (at 16 and 17), Audis, Hondas, and Toyotas. The Chevy Silverado is the only truck and is found right in the middle in the thirteenth place. Audi, BMW, and Fiat fill out the final places.
The rankings were determined by finding the two most popular hashtags for each vehicle and then totalling the number of mentions for that vehicle. The search was limited to only those vehicles still in production, so some classic cars may actually have more mentions than this current list. Additionally, some hashtags have multiple meanings (like #golf).
