Mercedes F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton has been filmed hooning around Tokyo in a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R. The midnight run, posted on social media, shows the seven-time world champion whipping around the city’s iconic Expressways and chucking doughnuts in a parking lot with fumes blasting through the gearbox. However, the wild footage (below) has been met with mixed reviews and, in one particular case, formal condemnation.

“I only like to drive on track, but I make exceptions,” Hamilton writes in the caption. While the 37-year-old seems to be having the time of his life, the rental company that claims to have lent him the car, Omoshiro Rent-A-Car, is absolutely fuming (pun intended).
“This is a car from Omoshiro Rent-A-Car, but it was not taken with permission from our company. Such driving is strictly prohibited,” Omoshiro wrote in a Twitter statement. With all due respect, what did you assume was going to happen? The bloke rides death machines for a living…
The JDM legend car in question, worth approximately USD$250,000, is currently listed on Omoshiro’s website from ¥34,500 JPY (approximately USD$249) per night. However, we suspect the price has skyrocketed since Sir Lewis jumped in the driver’s seat.
Public sentiment on the incident is mixed, with killjoys calling for Hamilton to be more cautious while others are begging Vin Diesel to add him to the Fast and Furious family. At this stage, neither Omoshiro nor Hamilton have yet to comment further on the incident.
“Under the guidance of our attorneys, we are unable to disclose any further information,” Omoshiro told CarBuzz.
This isn’t the first time Hamilton has found himself in hot water behind the wheel. In 2010, he was pulled over by police and had his car impounded for doing a burnout just hours after setting the fastest qualifying time for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
