In 2018, Range Rover will unveil a limited edition Range Rover SV Coupe that revisits an option they haven’t offered in years. For a two-door Range Rover, you have to go back to the early 1990s and pick up a Discovery or all the way back to an original Range Rover, but neither are easy to find. This limited edition coupe comes as a part of Land Rover’s 70th anniversary year, and will be displayed at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.
As you might expect, this coupe will continue in the tradition of luxury that has become synonymous with the Range Rover name. The console will be wood paneled, which will contrast nicely with the diamond-quilted white leather seats in the front. More contrast will come with the black leather seats in the back. Outside of what you can glean from pictures, there are plenty of questions that will only be answered come March. For instance, will the Range Rover have the same long wheelbase, or will it be shorter? The exterior remains a bit of a mystery as well. As far as performance, rumors speculate that it will have a 550hp 5.0 liter V8.
It’s great to see a company going back to its roots to offer something that they once offered but no longer produce. Even with the questions that still remain to be answered, just knowing that Range Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team is putting this coupe together brings plenty peace of mind.
