You probably don’t think of elegant and sporty describing the same car, but that’s what the Mercedes AMG GT 43 4Matic is. The aim of the luxury brand was to bring to market a coupe that combined sports car performance with the elegance of a four-door vehicle. The 43 packs a 3.0 litre turbocharged inline-six engine under the hood that’s good for 367 horsepower and 369 lbs-ft of torque.
When the electric supercharger kicks in, those numbers jump up to 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. As a standard feature, the car comes with a 48-volt electric system. Mercedes also opted to keep their EQ Boost tech on the car for an extra 22 horsepower when you need it.
The AMG nine-speed automatic mates with the engine and features a torque converter, sending power to the rear based all-wheel-drive 4Matic system. Top speed peaks at 270 kilometres per hour, with a 0-100 time of just under five seconds.
For now the 43 is available in Europe, with plans of releasing in the US soon, at a price of USD$111,375.
