Quiksilver has brought back Tai Kehu, the signature collection led by Māori pro surfer Kehu Butler, and it’s marking the 2026 return with something you can actually ride. The brand has teamed up with SharpEye Surfboards on six bespoke boards finished in artwork from the collection, and fans can enter to win one of the six custom boards, with the winner also picking up a $500 Quiksilver voucher.
Kehu has been part of the Quiksilver family since he joined the brand at nine years old. Born and raised in Tauranga Moana and of Ngāti Rangi descent, he’s now married, a father to a young son and an established professional surfer, and the new Tai Kehu range reflects that next chapter.
The 2026 collection builds on the original Tai Kehu projects with patterns and artworks inspired by the Moana, surfing, strength, movement, resilience, navigation and connection. As with earlier drops, it was developed with the guidance of respected tā moko artists Maia Gibbs and Henare Brooking of Toi Ake Māori Art Gallery in Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa (Gisborne), so the designs carry the cultural knowledge behind them with the respect it’s owed. The SharpEye boards take that artwork off the clothing and back into the water where Kehu’s story started. Below are six pieces from the men’s Tai Kehu collection worth a look.
Tai Kehu at a Glance
- Longer-leg surf sessions: Takarangi 21″ Boardshorts
- A shorter, classic cut: Tohu Surfsilk Arch 18″ Boardshorts
- Post-surf and summer evenings: Tohu Short Sleeve Shirt
- An everyday graphic tee: Takarangi Panel T-Shirt
- Cool dawn patrols: Tiki Pullover Hoodie
- Finishing the look: Tuna Heke Cap

1. Mens Takarangi 21″ Boardshorts
The Takarangi 21″ Boardshorts are the most surf-ready piece in the drop: a long outseam, a fixed waist and performance stretch fabric, finished in black with the collection’s artwork. If you only grab one thing from Tai Kehu for the water, make it these.
- Price: $89.99
- Outseam: 21 inches
- Fabric: Performance stretch
- Waist: Fixed, sizes 28 to 40

2. Mens Tohu Surfsilk Arch 18″ Boardshorts
Prefer a little more leg on show? The Tohu Surfsilk Arch 18″ Boardshorts sit in Quiksilver’s Surfsilk line with a mid-length outseam and the same performance stretch build, and they come in one of the widest size runs in the collection.
- Price: $89.99
- Outseam: 18 inches
- Range: Surfsilk
- Sizes: 28 to 44

3. Mens Tohu Short Sleeve Shirt
The Tohu Short Sleeve Shirt carries the artwork as an all-over print on a collared button-up in Birch. It’s the piece that takes Tai Kehu from the car park to a summer dinner without looking like you’ve just walked off the beach.
- Price: $79.99
- Colour: Birch
- Style: Collared button-up, all-over print
- Sizes: S to XXXL

4. Mens Takarangi Panel T-Shirt
For something you’ll wear every week, the Takarangi Panel T-Shirt is a regular-fit black crew with a printed panel across the chest.
- Price: $59.99
- Fit: Regular, crew neck
- Colour: Black
- Sizes: S to XXL

5. Mens Tiki Pullover Hoodie
Early surfs and windy evenings call for the Tiki Pullover Hoodie, a regular-fit black pullover with a Tai Kehu graphic. It’s the warmest layer in the collection and the easiest one to throw on straight out of the water.
- Price: $99.99
- Style: Pullover hoodie with graphic print
- Colour: Black
- Sizes: XS to XXL

6. Mens Tuna Heke Cap
The Tuna Heke Cap is the simplest way into the collection: a black strapback in one size with Tai Kehu detailing, and the lowest price point in the men’s range.
- Price: $35.99
- Style: Strapback cap
- Colour: Black
- Size: One size

How to Win a Tai Kehu SharpEye Surfboard
Quiksilver and SharpEye Surfboards have made six bespoke boards finished in artwork from the Tai Kehu collection, and the giveaway gives fans the chance to win one of them. The winner also receives a $500 Quiksilver voucher, which is enough to kit out a full Tai Kehu wardrobe to match.

Entry is through the Tai Kehu competition page on the Quiksilver site. Check the competition terms and conditions there for eligibility and the closing date before you enter.

For Kehu, the boards are the point of the whole project. “I want my son and the next generation to grow up knowing how important the Moana is and understanding the connection we have to it. That connection has always been a big part of who I am, and it’s something I want to pass on,” he says. His ambition remains to inspire Māori youth through surfing and to help build a stronger connection between young people and the ocean.
