Looks like Supreme has been rummaging through some of the stranger corners of the Nike back catalogue again, emerging from the Air Max archives with a sneaker most people probably won’t recognise.
Meet the Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy, a wonderfully over-the-top runner packed with quilted mesh, visible Air and enough reflective branding to ensure nobody misses the Supreme logo when the camera flash goes off.
If the name means absolutely nothing to you, you’re probably not the only one wondering where the Air Ecstasy came from. This obscure silhouette traces its roots to Nike’s turn-of-the-century running catalogue, and unlike the myriad Air Max icons that have spent the past two decades being endlessly retroed, what Supreme and Nike have collaborated on here has me wondering what else might be hiding in the archive.

Supreme Branding Built For This Shoe
Supreme has gone all the way, and then some, with this old Nike design. The shoe’s sweeping TPU structure now spells out Supreme across the sides and heel in 3M reflective material, with even more reflective detailing worked into the lace loops and tongue. Even under normal light, it’s in your face. But when the camera flash goes off, the whole thing lights up like a walking Supreme billboard.
Underneath, Nike retains the throwback construction with a Phylon midsole and transparent Air bags running along the sole. Tying it all together are debossed graphics around the heel and midsole, plus a co-branded footbed.
Oh, and you’ll have your pick of three unique colourways, too. The loudest pairs a deep red upper with silver reflective branding and a yellow midsole, while the alternative options tone things down with an all-black finish, as well as a white-and-blue combination that looks like it walked straight out of the early 2000s with a Sony Discman in hand.
That’s the image I reckon Supreme had in mind with the Air Ecstasy. And by getting there without leaning on one of Nike’s obvious classics, it proves there’s still plenty worth digging out of the archive.
The Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy launches on 27 August through Supreme, followed by an Asian release on 29 August. But don’t start budgeting yet. Supreme hasn’t officially confirmed pricing, so keep an eye out for the drop to see if you can cop a pair yourself.
