Every good boy loves their mama. Academy Award-winning actor, philanthropist and arguably the most envied man on earth, Leonardo DiCaprio has purchased a new villa in Los Feliz worth a cool USD$7.1 million. But this stunning Spanish-terrace complex isn’t for DiCaprio and current partner model Camila Morrone, instead, the new property is reportedly for his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken.

According to the New York Post, the Los Angeles home was previously owned by Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband, Justin Mikita. Originally built in 1928, the 5,000-square-foot home encompasses four bedrooms and five bathrooms, offering a touch of class to the outer suburbs of Hollywood.

With a Spanish Colonial style aesthetic, Leonardo DiCaprio’s new house in Los Feliz features a running theme of handcrafted ceramic tiles throughout the exterior, leading to an expansive courtyard designed for al fresco dining. When Leo and Irmelin are in the mood to relax, the outdoor region houses a sauna, a detached zen/meditation and yoga room, and a hot tub, which spills out into a flowing pool.

Inside, the Spanish Colonial aesthetic is continued in outrageous fashion. Guests are met with a two-storey foyer lined with stained glass windows, which lead to the chef’s kitchen. This area features a breakfast nook and custom built-in appliances with access to the expansive outdoor space. There is also a family room that converts into a media room equipped with a projector, a full-scale library with soaring ceilings, balconies that overlook the library, and a living room with a stone fireplace that boasts 25-foot ceilings.

The purchase marks the second Los Feliz property Leonardo DiCaprio has acquired in recent years. The Oscar winner previously bought a 1920s-era home in 2018 for USD$4.9 million for his dad, George DiCaprio, stepmom, Peggy Ann Farra, and niece, Normandie, however, the latest acquisition has a far more famous history. Since the late ’90s, the home has changed hands a few times, always in elite circles. The half-acre hillside property was first acquired by No Doubt star Gwen Stefani and her then-husband, musician Gavin Rossdale, in 1998. The pair reportedly paid $1.4 million for the house, a speck compared to what Leo forked out for his mum’s new pad.
