The highly anticipated Gladiator sequel is being helmed by acclaimed director Ridley Scott, with the script penned by David Scarpa. Paul Mescal, known for his role in Aftersun, takes on the pivotal character of Lucius, the nephew of Commodus, who after being saved by Maximus in Gladiator starts to idolise Russell Crowe’s iconic character. Joining Mescal in the stellar cast are Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawy, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas and Fred Hechinger.

Russell Crowe is not involved with Gladiator 2 in any way whatsoever, but the sequel will see Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi returning to reprise their roles as Lucilla and Senator Gracchus from the original film.

Gladiator 2 is expected to hit theatres on November 22, 2024.
