The ‘world’s biggest’ outdoor bed cinema is set to launch in Sydney this summer, screening the best films of 2023 under the stars. Mov’In Bed Cinema, a unique movie-watching experience, will transform Barangaroo‘s Harbour Park into an urban beachfront, complete with 280 tons of white sand, 150 plush queen-sized beds and the largest outdoor screen in the country.
According to the official event organisers, the Mov’In Bed Cinema activation will run from Friday 12 January to Sunday 14 April and will showcase a stellar program of classic films and new releases each week. Prices start from as little as $12 per ticket and range up to $75 for a premium package.
Originally launched in 2016, Mov’In Bed has steadily become one of Sydney’s premiere summer attractions, however, a brief COVID-related intermission pumped the brakes on the theatre experience. Thankfully, the sun, sand and cinema combo has returned for another showing, and this time around, it arrives in arguably the city’s best location. For the 2024 season, the giant 15-metre 4K screen will be set against the stunning Barangaroo skyline, providing a one-of-a-kind movie-going experience and the fun starts well before the feature film even begins.
Pre-screening DJ sets will be on offer for all showings, featuring an assortment of classic soundtrack songs and scores, with premium food and beverage options also available. Once it comes time to tune into the flick, guests will pop up a supplied set of specially designed noise-cancelling headphones and enjoy the show.
Across the three-month season, movie-goers will be able to watch new releases such as Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and Greta Gerwig’s smash-hit Barbie, amongst many others. The full program is yet to be released, however, you can stay up to date by following Mov’In Bed’s social channels.
