Audemars Piguet is releasing a special edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar done in platinum. Only 50 of these limited edition watches will be made, and given that previous versions of the Royal Oak have been held in high demand, these watches will certainly go quickly.
The platinum Royal Oak displays the day, date, month, astronomical moon, and week of the year all on a light blue dial. The darker blue around each subdial as well as the white lettering contrast nicely with the blue, making the watch’s face pop. The dial also features the “Grande Tapisserie” decoration. The attention to detail continues with a leap year indication on the month dial. The hour markers are done in white gold and have a luminescent coating.
The case measures 41mm and comes in at 9.5mm thick—this is a watch that sits prominently on your wrist, but not obtrusively. Made of 950 platinum, the case has a glare proofed sapphire crystal and case back. The crown is screw locked. The Royal Oak is also water resistant up to 20m. The bracelet is also done in 950 platinum and utilizes an AP folding clasp.
The watch’s mechanism is selfwinding and is powered by the movement of your wrist. The caliber is 5134, which builds on the previous 2120 caliber quite literally, coming in a bit larger to better fit the 41mm case. The whole movement is 4.31mm thick and is completely visible through the case back. It consists of 374 parts and 38 jewels, and runs on a frequency of 2.75HZ. The watch has a 40 hour power reserve.
If you’re looking to add to your collection, the stunning Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar done in platinum will complement your wardrobe and style. Audemars Piguet hasn’t released any pricing information—in fact, you’ll have to contact them to get pricing—but you can rest assured that this beautiful watch will be worth every cent.
