Swatch and OMEGA enthusiasts should mark their calendars because the Snoopy MoonSwatch is back in black and we have an official release date and imagery. Just weeks after the ultra-popular white-coloured Mission to Moonphase Snoopy MoonSwatch arrived, new details about the all-black ‘NEW MOON’ counterpart have been released.
Release details: Set to arrive on April 8th 2024 for a retail price of $500 AUD, the black Snoopy MoonSwatch will only be available in selected Swatch stores around Australia. Even though the brand states that this is a non-limited release, we’d expect this colour to be harder to get your hands on. If you want to get your hands on an early piece, expect to pay upwards of $1,000 on the secondary market.
Outside the colourway, there’s no physical change between the white Mission to the Moonphase Snoopy and this black variant. Snoopy is still nestled on the moon phase disc at 2 o’clock, front and centre while the hidden quote from his comic strip is revealed under UV light, a playful nod to NASA’s beloved mascot.

The Hype Behind the Black Snoopy MoonSwatch ‘Mission to the Moonphase’
On March 31, Swatch teased fans with a cryptic video featuring Snoopy holding a birthday cake adorned with two candles—one white and one black. This intriguing clip, reminiscent of an earlier teaser on February 18, had collectors buzzing with anticipation.
The initial excitement was further fuelled on April 2 when Swatch dropped another teaser video, this time featuring a solar eclipse morphing into the unmistakable face of Snoopy on a MoonSwatch. The reveal concluded with the date “04.08.2024,” all but confirming the official release date of the new watch.
Interestingly, April 8, 2024, coincides with a total solar eclipse expected to sweep across North America. Given the company’s penchant for aligning MoonSwatch releases with celestial events like supermoons, the connection is more than mere coincidence.
The Watch Community Reacts to the Black Snoopy MoonSwatch Teaser Videos
The anticipation surrounding Swatch and OMEGA’s first Mission to Moonphase Snoopy MoonSwatch reached a fever pitch when it finally dropped on March 26. The limited availability of the watch at select Swatch stores led to instant sellouts, with resellers capitalising on the frenzy by listing the sought-after timepiece at more than twice the original price.
As speculation mounted about the new black-dialled Snoopy MoonSwatch, collectors braced themselves for another round of frenzied buying.
As expected, the watch community has shared a diverse range of perspectives, particularly on the r/watches sub-Reddit.
“It’s about time they brought a black version. The white was cool, but this one looks sleeker. Definitely adding it to my collection,” remarked one enthusiastic commenter, echoing the sentiment of many who welcomed the new colour option.
“The MoonSwatch series captures the fun side of watch collecting. I’m a fan of Snoopy, and this collaboration with Swatch and OMEGA brings out the inner child in me,” shared another, highlighting the nostalgic appeal of the collaboration.
However, not all comments were purely positive. “I like the idea of the MoonSwatch, but I hope the Bioceramic material is improved. The white version seems prone to scratches,” expressed a user, reflecting concerns about the durability of the watch.
Others chimed in with suggestions for improvement. “Excited for the release, but I wish they’d change up the strap design for this one. Something more unique would make it stand out even more,” noted another, indicating a desire for distinctive features in the design.
Overall, the consensus among enthusiasts seems to be one of excitement and anticipation for the release of the black Snoopy MoonSwatch, with some expressing hopes for improvements in material quality and strap design.
As the April 8th 2024 release date approaches, collectors eagerly await their chance to add this coveted timepiece to their collections.
